Coronal Mass Ejections, Shocks and Energetic Particles

An observations-based model will be presented that resolves various long-standing puzzles concerning solar events and their interplanetary consequences. The observations include results from SOHO, previous spacecraft, and ground based data. The model has implications for space weather predictions.
